I bought my PicoBrew Pro as part of a Kickstarter project in 2016. Since then it has made many beers that enriched our family events with freshly drafted craft beer. In the first few months, I could only get a handful of beers, but now the selection has grown to over 100 PicoPaks from all over the world covering everything from IPAs to Lagers.
How does it work?
- Order a PicoBrew appliance and some PicoPaks from the PicoBrew web page.
- Order some CO2 gas cartridges for carbonation from Amazon.
- Buy some distilled water from your local grocery store.
- Turn on your PicoBrew appliance.
- Fill the beer keg coming with the PicoBrew appliance with distilled water.
- Connect the keg to the PicoBrew appliance.
- Add some water to the water reservoir of the PicoBrew appliance.
- Put the PicoPak into the PicoBrew appliance.
- Make adjustment to the bitterness and alcohol level as desired.
- Start the brew process.
- Wait about two hours for the brew process to complete.
- Cool your keg using ice or be patient and just until it has cooled off.
- Add the yeast coming with the PicoPak and shake your keg.
- Store the keg at room temperature for about 9 days.
- Move your beer from the brewing keg to a serving keg.
- Carbonate your keg using the included sugar or just use a CO2 cartridge (recommended).
- Cool your beer keg for another day or two.
- Follow the automated cleaning process.
- Enjoy some of the best and freshest beers the world has to offer!
What makes it special?
I really like the ability to try craft beers from around the globe. I mean I can see family members who normally don’t drink beer giving my brewed beers a try and enjoying them. I think the whole experience of making your own beer is what makes PicoBrew so special. I have tried to make some beer in the past, but it normally involved a lot of work and it used to be quite messy.
The PicoBrew appliance can actually live on a kitchen counter and I haven’t seen it making a mess beyond a few drops of water. So, it is really approachable for beginners. It even comes with a mobile application allowing me to monitor the brew process without having to stay close to the machine.
How is support?
PicoBrew always impresses me when I talk to support because they are very responsive and knowledgeable. So far, I had one issue with a broken pressure valve (I am guessing it might just require cleaning) and they immediately mailed me a replacement. I didn’t even have to send in my broken valve first. Whole process was completed within just a few days. Any other question I had on the brew process was typically answered in just a few minutes.
But don’t trust me on this one. Just do a search on Google or facebook and you will find the same feedback from other customers.
What is the PicoBrew Z all about?
While my PicoBrew Pro excels at brewing PicoPaks, it doesn’t allow me to create my own beer. This is where the PicoBrew Z comes in! I mean it still allows me to brew PicoPaks, but I can also create my own beer recipes. In fact, I can even create my own PicoPaks and make money on royalties if I feel confident in my beer taste.

What makes the PicoBrew Z different from existing PicoBrew appliances?
- Ability to create your own beer recipes and PicoPaks
- Can also brew Kombucha, Cold Brew and Nitro Infused Cold Brew Coffee
- Can be used as sous vide appliance to cook steaks and seafood
- Modular design can scale from 2.5 to 10 gallons
- More robust and industrial than its predecessor
Basically, the PicoBrew Z elevates the whole homebrewing process to a semi-professional level. So, if you are serious about drinking beer, you probably want a PicoBrew Z!
